Should I Hire A In House Recruiter

That’s a good question.

In House, Agency, Get the GM to do it. All phrases that get thrown around when we need to recruit. So what’s the best way? That depends on you and your business. If you have a forecast of continued growth, consistent attrition (low % but high number) and recruitment is overwhelming the team, the simple answer is yes. However, business is unpredicatable, consider the commitment you are making, financially and to this employee before making the decision. Also, consider other solutions.

Contract

Hiring a Recruiter on a fixed term contract could be an option for you. Having someone committed to working for you for the next x months whilst you have a recruitment' ‘ramp up’ could work.

Pros: Fixed term = shorter term commitment. Contract = Dedicated to you.

Con’s: Hiring your FTC = it can take time. Cost = it can be expensive. Commitment = You are committed even if your situation changes.

Outsourcing

Outsourcing your recruitment project/role to a business who employ a team of expert recruiters can get you access to the people you need without commiting long term.

Pros: Flexible = adapts to your needs. Cost Effective = very compared to committing to a new employee. Ready = to start immediately.

Con’s: Long Term = It can be more expensive than a FTE.

Agency

Agency’s can provide a great on demand service to your business when you need it. You can ‘give’ a specific role to the agency and they will do the work to fill it.

Pros: On Demand = There when you need it. Pay on Sucess = you only pay if they find you the employee.

Con’s: Fee’s = these can be expensive (12-22%). Not Just Yours = Your recruiter will be working on other roles.

What’s the solution?

Find what is right for you, right now. If you have been slowly growing and recruiting yourself but it’s getting too much, try outsourcing. If you continue to grow, progress to a FTC. If you continue…. you get the picture. You can always call on agency’s as and when required. My advice, would be to get an experts advice.
